Light should fall on the face of the person looking into the mirror. You can install a lighting fixture on top of the mirror for this purpose. Always select high quality mirrors because cheap quality ones develop black spots and begin to look unsightly over time. Also, when used in bathrooms, make sure that the mirror has a waterproof backing.
