All showers with door frames have built-in holes. This hole helps in draining the accumulated water from the shower. A majority of the homeowners are not aware of this mechanism. Often these features are covered with the help of caulk due to which the water gets accumulated inside and leaks out of the shower. To get rid of this problem, you must fix your shower enclosure. You can do this all by yourself too.
Firstly, to prevent the caulk from clogging the drain, cover the drain with the help of a masking tape. Use a razor blade to remove caulk from the shower door frame. Do remember to scrape off the excess by using a screwdriver. This method can be used only in a porcelain shower. To unblock the shower drainage, use a sewing needle. Apart from the caulk, the channel can also be blocked with soap scum and other dirt. To remove the same you must use a dirt remover.
The rubber seals that are torn or missing must be replaced. Rubber seals are placed around the shower door. Remove the caulk from outside too. Buy a silicone caulk and apply it along the shower door. Leave it for a day and then use the shower.
